Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 17 September 2026

Website Smith Ltd is committed to making websitesmith.net usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, magnification or voice control.

1. Standard we aim for

We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the standard referenced by EN 301 549 and by the European Accessibility Act as transposed in Ireland, which requires digital services to be perceivable, operable, understandable and robust, including with screen readers, refreshable Braille displays and speech recognition.

The same work satisfies the benchmark used in US ADA Title III website claims. Where the two differ, we build to the Irish and EU requirement.

2. What we have done

  • Every interactive control is reachable and operable with the keyboard, with a visible focus indicator.
  • A “Skip to content” link is the first focusable item on each page.
  • Text and interface colours are chosen to meet AA contrast ratios on our dark theme.
  • Images carry meaningful alternative text, and decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Forms use real labels, clear error messages and correct input types.
  • Dialogs can be closed with Escape, trap focus while open and return focus on close.
  • The site is responsive and readable at 200% zoom and on small screens.
  • Motion is limited and respects the “reduced motion” system setting.

3. Known limitations

Some AI-generated video content does not yet carry captions or an audio description. We add these on request and are working towards providing them by default.

4. Feedback and enforcement

If you meet a barrier on this site, email websitesmith1@gmail.com with the page address and a short description. We aim to reply within 5 working days and to fix confirmed issues promptly. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the National Disability Authority in Ireland, or the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, which carries out market surveillance of accessibility requirements for consumer services in Ireland.

5. Sites we build for clients

We build client sites to the same WCAG 2.2 AA baseline. Accessibility depends on the content published after handover, so clients remain responsible for alternative text, captions and readable copy they add themselves.
